Ring-tailed Lemur
Private Residence, Normal Heights, San Diego, 2021
Lemurs are the most endangered mammal group in the world due primarily to deforestation of their habitat.
Lemur populations have decreased an astounding 95% over the last 17 years leaving only between 2,000-2,500 in the wild. Unique to Madagascar, the high extinction risk faced by lemurs highlights the threat to Madagascar’s overall biodiversity.
There are many lemur conservation groups hard at work to protect these adorable primates from going extinct.
